Midway’s GXT1050VP4 two-way, 22-channel radios are designed for GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) operation, in a rugged, weatherproof package. With a range of up to 36 miles and Mossy Oak Breakup Camo finish, they’re ideal for your next hunting trip. One of the best features is Five Animal Call Alerts that includes Turkey, Duck, Crow, Cougar and Wolf alerts.
The device also performs functions like SOS Siren that allows you to send out distress/locator signals in an emergency situation, and Whisper feature that allows you to speak quietly and still be heard clearly by others. It makes the device perfect for the outdoorsman.
These are 5 Watt radios. The FCC limits the power output on GMRS Radios to 5 Watts maximum. Some brands are not even 5 watts, however these are. The battery life while on the 5 watt setting lasts for about 8 hours of constant talk. It also offers the option of using AA batteries in emergency situations.

They claim 36 mile range, but that is under optimum conditions with no obstructions. However, they go about 2 miles apart on the freeways. Two miles in the city is amazing. The charger is very compact and efficient and the headsets are very comfortable. These radios are of great quality and offer a crisper, clearer sound than its competitors. They are fairly compact, work extremely well, very reasonable and are everything the seller advertises them to be.

After my Motorola Talkabout stopped working after 7 years, I was looking for an affordable water resistant/proof set of walkies. The 36 mile Midlands are quite big and bulky compared to the moto’s and my older Midlands (14 Miles). The packaging states that these are water proof, I can’t confirm this yet. Overall I highly recommend this product for the sound quality, construction, water proof/resistant claim, extra items and value! (Derrick Y)
